Orliman Dynamic Ankle Orthosis (DAFO) – Fixed Foot

Orliman Dynamic thermoplastic ankle orthosis (DAFO) orthosis available in two heights consisting of an internal piece in low-density thermoplastic (PE-BD) that covers the leg posteriorly and is in contact with the entire plantar surface. It covers the entire perimeter of the midfoot for correct adaptation of the orthosis to the foot and optimize tissue containment and another external piece of skeletal design in thermoplastic of greater rigidity (PP) providing rigid support to control the positioning and biomechanical alignment of the member. It extends to the proximal edge of the metatarsal heads. The closure system and the velcro between the two pieces complete a comfortable and firm adaptation, guaranteeing adequate coupling and avoiding displacement between the foot and the orthosis. Very light in weight and cuttable contours, its low-profile design makes it easy to put on your footwear. Supplied with pads for the toes and the back of the midfoot to ensure greater comfort.

Effects: Limits plantar flexion, preventing the foot from dragging on the ground during the swing phase. Controls plantarflexion and dorsiflexion. It stabilizes the foot + ankle complex and improves all phases of the gait cycle, facilitating the development of fundamental movement patterns for a more natural gait. It realigns the entire foot and has support for the internal longitudinal arch. Optimizes the capacity for voluntary movements of postural balance and gait.
Indications: Hyperextension of the knee. Inability or weakness of plantar flexion and/or dorsiflexion. Excessive plantar flexion (walking on the toes). Instability as a result of low or high muscle tone. Lack of coordination or balance.
